Every other day, I seem to wake up with clusters of bites. Always 2 bites clustered together, and always on my arms, neck, and more recently my head. Basically never on any part of me that is covered by the blankets.
I’ve stripped down my mattress and stood it on end now 4 times (once at night) and rolled back the piping along the edges looking for evidence of bed bugs – blood spots, bug-feces spots, dead bugs, shed skins, etc. – but have found nothing. Also, I read that bed bugs bite in threes but none of mine have ever been in clusters of 3.
Is this a bed-bug problem or some other insect?

1Where did you read that bed-bugs bite in clusters of 3? I think you need to read up on bed-bugs in more reliable places than you’ve been reading in. "Magic numbers" of bites is pure superstition.
