My hamster has been having the constant sniffles lately, and I’m getting concerned. I used to use aspen wood bedding, then I changed to this hypoallergenic cellulose fiber stuff. No improvement! I don’t know what else I can do!
it could have an infection. which is nothing too horrible but your decision to switch bedding is probably your best move. if it continues i would seek veterinary advice. a good course of antibiotics would probably do the trick.
did you try carefresh ultra, shredded paper, or yesterdays news?? i had a rat who had that problem too, i switched to yesterdays news and he hasn’t had a problem since.
Was your hamster sniffing before the change of material? It may be that he/she is allergic to the new bedding.
It may also have caught a cold or other infection. Ask your vet for an opinion. Left, your hammy’s condition may worsen. Best to get them checked out =)
Make sure he is in a warm room!
how old is he?
if he is 2-3 my hamster got this a couple of monthes before he died this does not nesicarllily mean ur hamster will die but if he is getting old this may be the case!
if he is young take him to the vets so they can have a a look at him!
Hamsters can get colds to just like us. It may be the bedding you r using or anything that u have changed. If u can afford it and think your pet is sick u can take it in to c a vet. It shouldn’t cost to much but they do have medicines for them to. Mine had pneumonia I got medicine for him and he lived for like 3 more years. Good luck.
