   A good optical microscope should do the trick. Most websites claim you need at least 10X magnification to see them, but I would guess 50X would be better. You’ll also need a nice uniform light source, something like a LED illuminator would be good but those are expensive. A nice high-intensity light would probably do.

   Used microscopes can be had for relatively little money on eBay. Illuminators as well. Intel used to sell a digital microscope that hooked up to your computer call the Play system. I’ve used one and I don’t think it would provide a very good image of a dust mite though.

   Does your school have any of this instrumentation you can use?
