Those measures are all good. In addition to this, it may be worthwhile giving your home an inspection to see if there is any old wood (or other materials) that may be harbouring mold/fungus. Pets can also be an issue for asthmatics (cats more typically than dogs), and patients sometimes have to consider giving theirs away. An air filter/ionizer may give added benefit.
Along with other general measures, avoidance of known stimuli is also advisable, as a matter of course.
