We moved into this apt. about 2 months ago. A little over 3 weeks ago we noticed a we had a couple of bugs. We didn’t know what they were and just flushed them down the toilet. We saw one one night and found out it was a bed bug. We taped it to the wall and called the rental office the next morning. I found another while I was on the phone with her. 2 wks after I let them know they finally sent terminex out to fix the problem. By this time I had 5 bugs taped to our walls. I spoke with the terminex man and he told us to buy 2 mattress covers, one for the mattress and one for the box springs. We did that last night and they are on. We are washing everything in hot water. I spoke with the rental office today and she told me we are responsible for the bill from terminex. This is going to cost us 0. I don’t think this is fair. We can get proof that we didn’t have this problem at our last apt. and I’m calling her tomorrow to tell her that while we were signing the lease that our rental agent smashed a baby roach with her finger on the wall in a closet when we pointed it out to her. Shortly after that we had to have terminex out again because of another problem. This isn’t a dirty complex and we don’t know how we got the bugs. I’ve put in an email to legal aid and I’m calling the health department back tomorrow but I don’t know what else to do.
