I'm not a doctor, but has he tried Zyrtec? I have severe allergies, dust included. I take Zyrtec and it helps me immensely. If he is having trouble tolerating pills. maybe his allergist would prescribe him a nasal spray, such as Nasonex, Flonase or Astelin. I have used those in the past and they work well, sometimes even better than an allergy pill. He should talk to his allergist about those options. Just giving my advice. You need a prescription for the nasal sprays. You can get Zyrtec OTC now, but I think he should ask his allergist first.
Hope he feels better soon :D
