Posted by admin as Bed Bug Protection
I just moved into college August first and i have been using a bed that was given to me by my aunt. it has a memory foam top and brand new sheets and a waterproof mattress cover. i was also told that this bed had been in storage for quite some time before i got it. however i don’t think its bed bugs because these bites had just started about a week ago.
the reason i know that this is not a rash is because i have already plucked two little tiny bugs (about 1mm in width) from separate bite marks located on my inner thigh. most of the bites are on my feet, groin, and front/back of the knees. im guessing this is because these areas are most damp?
the only thing i could even begin to guess is that i just started wearing a pair of shoes i haven’t used in a long long time because a different pair had been soaked on a fishing trip.
Could this be bed bugs? ticks? maybe something residing on my body? or something living in my shoes?
Thanks in advance. i hope someone has any idea what this could be. do you think a doctor would be able to identify this? i have a high deductible on my insurance so i didn’t want to make any trips to the doc especially if these are bugs and not a rash, at least i may be able to solve the problem on my own.
also, i have been wearing shirts and maybe a pair of pants that i haven’t wore in a very long time. maybe these in sects ere living there?

1Bed bug bites can get intensely itchy. They also won’t disappear for weeks. I covered my mattress with a vinyl mattress cover. One that zips up and that helped a whole lot. The first one that I bought tore pretty easily, but the second one that I bought from Sears hasn’t torn yet.
It’s not the mattress. The bed bugs are in the room. They live inside the mattress or any other crack and crevice on the bed frame or walls etc… You can go to WalMart or a home center and buy the gallon size of Ortho bug killer for about $10 (shaped like a jug of antifreeze). It has a spray handle and tubing. It’s really good bug spray. I would definitely spray the room every once in a while. Spray the mattresses and bed frame. Then, slide on a mattress cover and zip it up.
