I have moderate to severe allergies to dust and mold – I only get really severe symptoms once or twice a year but ever since I was a about 10 years old, I have had mild to moderate nasal congestion at night. I use hypoallergenic pillows and prop my head up so it’s somewhat away from the pillow. I sleep with a box fan on, but not blowing toward me. I have been told this would only make it worse but I usually wake up with worse nasal congestion if I don’t use it. And most importantly I use vapor rub under my nose every night or it gets much worse.

Even though I have had this problem so long, it still is very irritating and keeps me awake for hours sometimes. I have spoken to, or attempted to speak to doctors about it but either they dismiss it as one of those minor things that will go away in time or they don’t have time to discuss it because it’s too minor.

I’ve tried many, many prescription, OTC and herbal allergy medications (mostly to relieve symptoms from my yearly severe allergies) but NOTHING gets rid of it. I’ve tried those nasal strips years ago and they don’t seem to work.Only vapor rub helps relieve it. Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?
I use nasonex fairly regularly but it doesn't help too much with nighttime congestion. Sudafed doesn't help except for with yearly severe allergies.
Also, another question reminded me that I get the congestion even before I got to bed or have anything near my face.

I also get watery eyes but that doesn't bother me.
