Yes, unfortunately, there are. If you buy a new mattress, they say it is 28 days free of dust mites. After that sorry. There are only two ways to combat this that I know of. Buy a kirby vacuum cleaner. They are expensive but are very good, and the only vacuum cleaner that can actually guarantee you the removal of dust mites. Or get one of the mattress that you can unzip and remove the top part and wash it. And you should do that every 28 days. Washing your sheets doesn't really take care of it. They are in your mattress more so than the sheets. They can also get into your living room furnitures, and carpets. When you sleep in that bed, you do get dust mites on your body, but they mostly come off with a shower.

Also, if people say they are allergic to dust mites, they aren't. I don't think it's possible. Instead, they are allergic to the feces of dust mites. If you lay down at night and one eye starts to water, it's dust mites.

And also in response to airbob, that is also true. And mascara doesn't harm them. They actually aquired a taste for it. I learned that in biology class in high school many years ago. I was completely grossed out and needed a shower.

Yes there are, feasting on you dead skin, perhaps this explains the occasional skin itch that we all feel. There are also mites in the roots of your eyelashes growing fat on your body oils.

All over the place. They're pretty gross. They like dead skin cells, so keep your bedding clean (wash at least once a week), do your laundry frequently and vacuum at least twice a week. And rather than dusting, use a damp cloth to wipe down surfaces. Much of dust is dead skin cells (which attracts the mites), and normal dusting just displaces them, it doesn't get rid of them! A damp cloth will pick it all up, and then you can just toss it in with your laundry.
