Want more tips for decimating your home’s dust mite population? Then here are some tips.
- If you live in a hot and humid climate, invest in a dehumidifier. Since dust mites, as I mentioned earlier, need humidity levels above 50 percent, a dehumidifer can suck moisture out of closets, carpets, and other damp spaces, thus reducing dust mites.
- Wash bedding in hot water, and dry on high to kill dust mites. Alternately, hang your bedding to dry in the sun to zap the bugs.
- Vacuum regularly, and thoroughly, with a HEPA filter vacuum.
- Use a HEPA air purifier to eliminate indoor airborne allergens.
- Do you have kids? Replace their nonwashable stuffed animals with hypoallergenic, washable toys.
I tested positive for the dust mite allergy years ago, more like half a century ago, and have been battling the ugly little buggers ever since. They can only survive in specific humidity and temperature conditions (75 to 85 f and 70 to 80 relative humidity)
So get a good humidifier and after you’ve wiped out the mites you can start to wonder what else your allergic to, Pet dander followed by pollen are the next 2 on my list.
Good Luck

2Nope, just keep dusting. Dust mites have been around forever and just now we hear of them! They’re only kinda bad if your allergic to them.

3No cleaners. You actually have to dust and vacuum.

6You should spray your bed and rugs with anti-bacterial spray, like lysol or wash all of your bedding.
