For some reason I stay hot. During the winter when it’s 20 to 30 outside I’m actually comfortable. Now it’s spring going on summer. Me and my wife lived alone until the economy did a number on us. She lost her job and wasn’t able to find another one. We lost our home and had to move in with her mother. My wife’s mom is one of those "can’t run the air it runs up the electric bill" types. We’re forced to stay here because we have no place else to go and my wife decided to return back to school instead of work because work was so hard to find. Our room is a furnace. I can handle it during the day but at night when I’m trying to sleep I lie there in bed and sweat. Our white sheet has fade stains on my side of the bed where the our brown mattress is actually fading onto our white sheet from my sweat. I don’t cover up at all and I have three fans blowing on me. Opening the windows don’t help because the windows do not have screens and bugs namely mosquitoes get in and you can figure out the rest. My wife lies in bed covered up to her neck cold while I lie next to her on fire. Why am I so hot when everybody else is so cold? What can I do to help cool myself off at night to help me get more than 5 to 6 hours of sleep before I have to get up for work? Is there some kind of meds I can take or maybe a cooling product I can buy? I know they make heating blankets but do they make cooling blankets? I know all this sounds stupid but I’m suffering. We’ve lived here for going on four months and every night I get only about 5 hours of sleep and I’m exhausted. Any suggestions would be nice thanks.
Ok the Tommy answerer that was the stupidest answer I’ve ever heard. HIV? Geez night sweats is also a symptom of leukemia but I doubt I have that. Next time think before you answer.

1Charlie, I’ve had to wrestle with night sweats – and I’ve got 5 sisters and my partner Sassy who are all in various stages of menopause, complete with hot flashes throughout the night and day.
Keep your wife in mind too – you may have to get her an electric blanket or an electric sheet to keep her warm while you’re chilled to perfection. If all else fails, set up a bunk in the basement (if one is available) – it’s the next best thing to a walk in refrigerator. Hope you find relief!
Step 1 in your effort to cool off is to get some screens and swap hot, humid inside air for cooler outside night air. Circulating inside air using fans won’t drop the temperature or the humidity; in fact, the room will get warmer and more humid without outside air. This is your mission in life; you’ve gotta make or buy some screens and circulate outside air in the room. Beyond that, I can point you to some things that have worked for my night sweats. Just to clarify – I’m not a doctor. I’m able to diagnose and fix machines – but people? Not so much.
This answer is already getting a bit long, so rather than copying and pasting pieces of the web page, I’ll just refer you to the link below. There’s also information there about small fans (regular and misting), wicking pajamas & bedsheets for night sweats, etc. The misting / condensing fans can really do a job cooling you off if you’re in an area with low relative humidity

5You could get a portable, gas or battery powered air conditioning unit to plug up into your side of the bed. I have never heard of a cooling blanket. You might also want to look into a misting device. You wouldn’t want to put it right over your bed, but some homes in Arizona and New Mexico use them indoors to cool the air. The water is very fine and evaporates as it enters the air. It instantly lowers the internal temperature several degrees. Your wife might freeze, but you would be comfortable. You might also want to consider a cooling pillow. They make pillows that are supposed to stay cold throughout the night. They might also help you remain at a comfortable temperature.
