I agree that you should wait. Since you are not allowed to have dogs you can't rely that you will have your new condo before the landlord finds out. Puppies require a lot of training and it sounds like you aren't able to spend that time with him. The last thing you need is pee and poop all over your rented apt.
There is no promise that any dog is hypoallergenic- even if they are "guaranteed" .

Wait since you don't have a place of your own nor the time to train or take care of a dog. Pet dander is loose flaky skin on a pet. All pets including Schnauzers have dander. We have dander also. Ask your boyfriends dermatologist what kind of pet he would recommend. Don't be to surprised if he said none. You wouldn't want your boyfriend going into an asthma attack because of your pet.

Well, it would be really terrible if you accepted the puppy and then the landlord decided to uphold the "no pets" section of your lease. It would be unfair to the dog as well as the person who gave it to you. Get the landlord's okay (in writing!) before you even think about accepting the dog. You will have to take it outside to potty, and puppies are not very quiet, so people will know you have one. After that, you need to work out a schedule so that someone can come home every few hours to let the puppy out until it is house trained and old enough to control its bladder while you are at work. You do need to have time to spend with the dog to train it and socialize it properly, too. If you don't think that will work for you now, you can always get a dog later when you schedule gets easier. There are plenty of pets that need homes.
