And I went to a dermatologist earlier this year to see if he could help me and he said I have very dry skin, so he gave me some lotions for it….I’m ALLERGIC to the lotions, so I stopped using them….the itching comes more at night and I don’t know what kind of lotion I can use for my legs, it can’t have a fragrance and it has to be hypoallergenic, does anyone have any suggestions? It gets to the point I cut myself from scratching so hard. I don’t have bed bugs, I get a new mattress every 2 years and I change my sheets every other day….so….I don’t know what it is….someone help.
And please, no rude remarks….
I AM almost allergic to EVERYTHING, I take two shots, everyweek lol….I do have my reasons for replacing my mattress so much.

1It probably is dry skin.

I use cetaphil lotion or gold bond ultra healing. Neither one makes me allergic, and I get allergic easily.
Read a lotions label, the most itchy things in them are mineral oil, lanolin, and shea butter. Put the lotion on within 5 minutes of getting out of the bath or shower to lock in moisture. Make sure your water when you bathe is not too hot, it seems to make itching and dry skin worse.
If the itching keeps you awake, try one 25mg benadryl tab before bed.
You can probably stop changing your sheets so much, It’s not from them, and thats a lot of extra work for you.
Hope this helps.
I had several years of very itchy skin, the dermatologist was a waste of money, and it seems to have passed now, so I’m thinking there may have been a hormonal element involved.

3A new mattress every two years? Very unnecessary unless you’re allergic to nearly everything…but anyways. I wish I could think right offhand of the hypoallergenic lotions, but have you tried Dove lotions? Or Vaseline Intensive Care lotions? Most now come in a hypoallergenic version.
You may just have to call your doctor and get him to order something else.

4Sarna lotions are the best for itchy dry skin. They have a sensitive skin formula that is fragrance-free. They are more expensive than regular lotions but worth every pennie of it. They are usually found in the first aid sections.
