with a needle at a tattoo parlor while out of town visiting a friend on day four I woke up in agony the ball had fallen out and the ring was snagged in the pillow not being able to find the ball I put in a clean new hypoallergenic stud in and have been keeping it clean. I am just wondering if this is ok? There is no sign of infection and although it is sore still it seems to be healing ok I have been cleaning it as recommended with saline, etc. Is there anything else I should do?

As long as it's not infected it's probably fine. That's one of the more painful places to get pierced because of the cartilage and it can be sore for a while and takes longer to heal. The best thing to do to help with the soreness is to wear a hypoallergenic earring that won't snag, try to keep your hair up off it, try to sleep on the other ear, and take some tylenol if it hurts.

Just keep doing what you're doing, it sounds like the wound is healing.

it was probably irritated from being snagged in the pillow and pulling on it. keep it clean and free from infection with a salt water wash and it should be fine, but keep an eye on it.

Just keep clenaing it like you are. Cleaning it with salt water will also help it heal faster. its actually a good sign tht u were able to get new ring in it so soon after getting it pierced. Its healing well.
