   If your mattress is still in good condition, Yes you can use the allergy cover. There are covers for the mattress and pillows. I would vacuum, as you said and then get the allergy cover. You won’t be breathing in the allergens anymore either. You might find that it also helps you sleep better. I hope this helps.

   You replace the matress when the springs start poking out, or when you can feel the springs.

   usually after 4-5 yrs the mattress has to be changed

   Depends on the mattress. I have a Tempurpedic which is supposedly lifetime.

   While it does say dust mite are one of the reason to change the mattress that is not the reason for an increase in weight of the mattress it is due to moisture/ sweat over many years.

   There are company’s that rip your mattress down to the springs and rebuild With a new fabric and padding.so you don’t have to buy a new mattress.

   Not for me thanks so its replace if gets lumpy or 10 years.

   They are running a commercial right now that says to replace your mattress every 8 years. They say there is a tag on it telling when it was manufactured.

   Mine is probably 20 years old and I desperately want/need a new one!
