My mother has them in her apartment and I seemed to have bought them with me to my own apartment. About two weeks ago i noticed 5 bites in one particular area on my ankle. Thought it was just an allergic reaction to something. Then two days later i saw 6 more bites on the same leg. By then i was thinking i could have bed bugs. After this incident, i have not been bitten for a few days. Today, i finally saw one crawling in my sheets. Could this be the only one that has been biting me and not my husband? have considered the fact that i do visit my mother’s apartment frequently, the fact that i only got the bites and my husband has not, and that they are only in my room. Could i just have a few? maybe the one i found today and killed was the main one that bit me
As for exterminating them, i have gotten plastic covers for my mattress, put my clothes in plastic bags and will be cleaning my entire room with Clorox, including my mattress.
i forgot to mention that
i moved this new apartment in a new house a 1 yr ago and have only noticed the bed bug for about 2 weeks. Since its a new apartment i don’t have much furniture in my room except a wooden tv stand, a tv, and a closet that has sliding wooden doors.

1bed bugs not only like your bed but will also attach themselves to your couch..they might only be on your side of the bed and that’s why they are only biting you. they all stay and hide in one spot in your mattress look for a rust color on your mattress they tend to leave this on the spot they are hiding at. the mattress cover will help but wash ALL your bedding even your actual pillows in HOT water in your washing machine. hot water kills them and i actually boiled water in my tea pot and poured on the area where they were and i cleaned from under my bed and sprayed bug spray and i haven’t had a bite since. hope this helps they are such a pain. i wash my bedding at least once week always in hot water just to always be on the safe side.

2yeah that will probably get rid of them but they still hitch a ride from your moms so you should probably help her out also to make both of you happier

4you could have 1000’s, you never just have one, we have them in our apt in paris, they are thee hardest things to get rid of, we caught mattress protectors but it wasn’t enough, we then seen one a few days later, they hide in clothes and wall and only come out and onto the bed when it i dark, you need to get an exterminator i am telling you, it is the only way

6Gwendalyn,
Your husband may be getting bit and just not reacting. It is an allergic reaction to the bite that causes the welts and itching.
Is it possible you just have one bedbug – possible yes but likely no…
Even if you only have one, it has likely laid eggs already so the rest of the family is coming to visit soon.
You may end up needing an exterminator to deal with this but since your infestation is likely small and controllable on your own, I think you should look at some do-it-yourself options that you can spray on your furniture including your mattress.
There are several chemisal free bedbug products available. the one that I have seen used most is called BedBug Terminator and it is sold online by a company called Kleen-Free. Apparently it will kill th bedbugs on contact as well as their eggs. You just spray it everywhere for a few days.
Good luck with this. Your mother may want to get some too or split the cost of a larger order and try ot get rid of them at her place too. You do not need to or want to try to live with bedbugs.
