Hello,
I have been staying over a friends house for most of my time. I come home every now and then. Today when I came home I saw a bug crawling on my leg. Upon closer inspection (after it was flat and dead), it was a bed bug.
Then I saw another one on my shirt. This is the first time that I have seen any actual bugs, but I have had mysterious bites for quite a while. Both bugs were crawling downward on my body, as if they were trying to find somewhere to burrow…YUCK!!! Would they be in my hair??
My question is, what do I do. Apparently the bugs just hitched a ride on me. Is there a need for me to go into all out attack? Or should I just wash all of my clothes and linens JIC? Also, I have a plastic/vinyl/nylon cover over my mattress. Should I worry about them getting into my mattress?
Please advise! I have never come into contact with something like this at all!!
Also, will tehy bite my cat? I have heard that the little buggers only like human blood…is this the case?
Thanks so much!!!

3You have a serious problem on your hands. From your questions I do not believe you realize how serious a problem you have and how much work it is to get rid of them.
My advice is to read the site bedbugger.com three times, especially the FAQs. You are going to have enough problems and expense without doing things that are ineffective or unnecessary. You will have to have professional extermination but many exterminators are incompetent in the face of bedbugs.
If you have been staying at a friends house they are probably there, too.
And sad to say they will bite your cat.

4Bed Bug Elimination Services
Bed bugs are flat, oval in shape and brown in color. They are found in many environments including: homes, apartments, condominiums, dormitories, motels, and even cruise ships. As they feed, the bed bugs flat body expands and turns reddish in color. The adult is approximately the size of an apple seed and can live for more than a year without feeding. During the day, they hide behind baseboards and pictures, in bed frames, furniture, wallpaper, mattresses, blankets, pillows and sheets. Bed bugs tend to settle in close proximity to their food source – humans! They come out at night, attracted by the breath and body heat of their food source. Bed bugs can spread from room to room, using clothing, and other personal belongings to make their way. Bed bugs often leave itchy, bloody welts on the skin.
Bed bug infestations are on the rise across country and in particular the Washington, DC area. Factors like the proximity to other metropolitan cities like New York, occupational travel, and our growing transient population, have more than doubled reported cases in our area in the last year. Experts are predicting the number of occurrences will continue to increase in the coming years. If you suspect you have a bed bug infestation we recommend immediately taking action by laundering all bedding, vacuuming the suspected area, and scheduling a professional inspection.

5Most probably they have already found a home in the cracks of your bed floor or mattress. Get mattress vacuum cleaned and put in it he sun. Same goes with your clothes and linens. And they can bite which is sucking blood out of any warm blooded animal including the pets. humans are easy targets for them to suck blood from.
