Yes, if your hot water is 140 degrees celsius or higher it will kill dust mites. You can also kill dust mites by putting clothes/objects in the freezer. I do this with my asthmatic child’s stuffed toys.
I believ so. They were talking about dist mites on oprah the other day, and they had a reseracher, that said the best way is to put it in the washing machine on the hottest setting, or if you don’t have much time in the dryer on the hottest setting works too, and for the floors to vacumm regularly.
150 Degrees to kill dust mites. Vacuum a lot and get one of those air filters from Sharper Image. I have a Rainbow vacuum that puts all the dust into water which I then flush down the toilet. No dusty vacuum bags in my house.
The problem with the hot water washing your clothes is that it could very well ruin a lot of your clothes. However, for bedding and toweling, hot water is fine. If you have cotton underwear and socks also ok.
The reason for this is (and to prevent accidently scalding especially amongst children) that hot water heaters typically come from the manufacturer at pre-set temperatures of 120 degrees F. (49 degrees C.) or less. Energy conservation started in the 70’s has also played a role in lower temperatures. That is also, coincidentally, when cold water laundry detergent arrived.
To kill dust mites you must wash in water temp’s of at least 130 degrees F. (54 degrees C.) and even more effective would be 140 degrees. Commercial laundromats will often times have temperature settings higher than found in homes.

Thanks.Washing with near HOT water can kill mites ,But not completely .also mites present in others place or matereal(carpet,..).Tanic acid spray(X-MITE) can kill it.referred to Allergist is my suggestion.
Effectively depends on how hot "hot" is. Everyone’s answers below look good. A couple other pointers: Get some pillow covers and mattress covers as well as a couple of those cheap air filter masks to wear when you’re vacuuming. They all seem to help me–even if I do look a little silly… Good luck!
This is what my allergist suggested that I do with all my bedding. It decreased my allergy symptoms almost immediately. Also, you could get the allergy covers for your pillows and mattress. They make some that are not pure plastic, so it’s just like an extra layer of fabric.

5I’m not sure, but complete drying would be vital. If the clothes are white add bleach, it kills a lot of things.
