You can't completely eradicate dust mites. Other things to try are purchasing a latex mattress and/or latex pillows. These inhibit dust mites/fungus. Not cheap, but helpful. If you have carpeting, vacuum often. If you can get rid of carpeting, do so. Clean & dust frequently. Air filters to help with dust (aka skin cells) that the dust mites feed of off.

****To answer your extra question. I do think some covers help. My 14 year old daughter has chronic allergies. A latex pillow helped a lot. We have two natural latex mattresses, but she was the only one who did not get one since my other daughter is autistic and needed one more. We all have a protective cover and the brand we have is Protect-A-Bed. They cost anywhere from $30-$80 depending on your mattress size and where you buy them. It's a really nice cover since it feels like terry cloth and not even liquid goes through it. It's washable in the machine too. I feel the pillow and the cover has helped her. P.S. Don't forget to wash your bedding frequently too.

Dust mites are everywhere inside a home. You need to look at either a very expensive filtration system in your home, or go in to see a allergist and ask about allergy shots plus medication. You need to get a HEPA vaccum cleaner, also and vaccum almost everyday.

Hello,

I am not sure if your questions is a duplicate but I did offer an answer in another thread.

Just wanted to add that I agree with Anathema. Latex is great solution for your pillows and mattress. I personally could not afford the mattress but do use the latex pillows. Combined with the dust mite cover, my symptoms have noticeably been suppressed!

Good Luck
