Thanks everyone for your answers. I decided to buy new pillows rather than wash them, because I don’t want to take the fluff out of them. I value extra firm pillows!
your better off buying knew ones you could wash them but they could come back i would not chance it.the pillows are not that exspensive i would rather be done with the mites.
Dust mites can be killed if the water temperature is hot enough. I think they also recommend the use of bleach.. Once you’ve done this, you should be an anti-allergen pillow case, which will prevent the problem from happening again.
You can put pillows in the dryer on the hottest setting as it kills the dust mites.. don’t have to wash them.. the hot dryer will get rid of them and fluffs your pillows also.
in order to minimize the dust mites on your pillow, the sure way is to invest in good allergy free pillow covers which you can wash on a weekly basis as well as your sheets. generally pillows should be replaced every three (3) years for a better quality support. the same goes for your mattress, you need to invest in a good cover it should help.
just hot water and detergent to wash pillows… add tennis ball in the dryer when drying the cleaned pillows it will ensure to move them around and dry faster.

3why would you want to buy new dust mites?…..LOL
hot water and soap kills the dust mites, as long as the pillow is washable.

7Yes, most of the above answers are correct. I’m washing my pillows periodically.
