   My daughter is severely allergic to dust mites and the doctor prescribed Singulair for her, which worked miracles. It was my savior!! No more problems! She also uses Nasonex occasionally which also works great. Both of these prescriptions are very expensive if you don’t have insurance though.

   I have found Nasonex to be quite effective for me.

   The one that works best for you.

   That may seem like a simple and not helpful answer.. but everyone is different and reacts differently to medications.

   Have you tried Claritin/Loratadine?

   It also depends on how severe your allergy issue is.. is it just sneezing and runny nose? Then Flonase may help with nose problems, or Patanol for eye irritation.

   Or is it more severe? You may want to try Allegra which is supposed to be non-drowsy (some people still experience a mild drowsy side-effect).

   The strongest antihistamine (at least in the USA) for allergies is Zyrtec and it can make you really drowsy.

   So you really need to weight how severe your problem is, what side effects of the medication you’ll tolerate, and cost may also be an issue.

   What it all really boils down to is which medication works best for YOU.

   I have taken just about everything on the market and finally have found the combination that works for me. I use nasonex twice daily, singulair once daily, and I am presently getting allergy shots once a week. I still have some symptoms but the extreme reactions don’t happen anymore. I would go to a hotel and have all kinds of symptoms(hotels are notorious dust traps). I would have breathing problems, sneezing, watery eyes, and the worse was the red eyes in the morning. I would look like a vampire because the whites of my eyes were blood red and glassy. I had people accuse me of smoking pot which is completely not anything I would ever do.

   Basically, I think that it is just a matter of you trying different things until you come upon that magic combination that helps you. Oh, and I put dust covers on my bed and pillows, and I bought bamboo floors and removed all carpet from my house.
