Ok so i found this bug this morning on my nightstand. Im like…99% sure its not a roach. (I could be wrong tho) I think it might be a bed bud. I have been waking up very itchy for the past 2 weeks but my fiance dosnt feel a thing. Could they only be bitting me? We just moved into a really old crappy apartment so it could be a bed bug? Ive been reading and know how much of a hassle they are so im freaking out. Please look at the pics and let me know what you think…(sorry theyre not that good) .oh and how do you get rid of them? Will a plastic mattress cover help?? Thank you!

1You need to take that mattress outside and fumigate it, not to mention you room/house…..or get another mattress all together plus fumigate. Gross!

3It’s possible. Have the bites been resulting in red bumps?
The only way to get rid of them is to toss the mattress and the bedclothes. Sorry!

4There’s a good chance you do. Call an exterminator, they’ll know what to do. You’ll probably need a new mattress if you’ve got them though.

8bed bugs are microscopic little things you cant see them, the best thing is to vacuum your mattress and wash your bedding on a hot wash

11a bed bug is a teeny tiny itty bitty little bug that most people cant even see with the naked eye.
so no, whatever bug you found on the night stand is not a bed bug.
Secondly, if you dont have tons of tiny red bumps all over, and if your hubby has no issues – again no, you dont have bedbugs
thirdly – IF you had bed bugs (which you dont) you would pretty much have to get a new mattress, new bedding, and shampoo the hell out of your carpets.

12We can’t see the pics. Sounds like little black beetle looking bugs, they first start as little wormy things and they eat clothes! Try a mattress cover and keeping your room clean.

13It could very well be bed bugs. I suggest you get an allergist in your home to check for them. You may have an over population of dust mites or fleas as well, so look into that possibility. Oh, and you may want to think about replacing your mattress, using the plastic cover, and washing your bed sheets, blanket, pillows, and pillow cases. Best wishes.

15Hello, it most likely is a bed bug. The boyfriend probably thinks you’re overreacting, therefore; wont admit you have them. LOL Probably thinks you’ll freak out!!! Anyways. its totally normal to have bed bugs. Actually, everyone does have them. Not too sute whether or not they bite, but I do know to have them is normal. It has nothing to do with the "old crappy apartment" LOL We can wash our sheets and blankets daily and still have bed bugs! Dont worry, they wont kill you.

16No both of you would be bidden. He may be embarrassed by the occurrence. See the site below & picture to see what they look like. Your references did not come out right. I could not view it.
Good Luck

17For some reason I couldn’t see the pics. Anyhow bed bugs can’t necessarily be seen with the naked eye. But yeh you might have some kind of mite in your place, if like you said it is an old crappy place. But really there are solutions to this anyway.
First off, wash and clean bed linens weekly. Yes at least once a week. Especially if mattress mambo is going on. Ha ha.
Mattresses can be vacuumed. I vacuum mine at least once a month. My son and husband have allergies and such. so this is very helpful. Empty vacuum canister everytime. or if you have paper bag filter type vacuum, then replace them regularly.
Yes, one of those hyperallergenic mattress covers can be a good idea too. But they need to be washed periodically too. And they are not plastic, they are made of some other material, still soft. plastic will make you sweat, even if the cover is under a sheet. Plastic covers are for little tots who still wet the bed, or for sick people or bed wetters.
Also pulling back the bed covers to let air get to your sheets after you get out, instead of making bed straight away. Also open windows to let fresh air circulate. The little critters like it warm, so let the body heat escape and bed to cool down, before making bed.
You can spray your place too, and I believe there are organic friendly type sprays available now. You may have to research on that.
Vacuum, curtains or drapery. Vacuum carpets regularly. Perhaps rent a steamer vac to get it cleaner.
Keep dust down, wipe down surfaces weekly. windowsills, tv tops, shelves, nick nacks. In fact keep nick nacks down to a minimum, Don’t have junk everywhere to accumulate dust. Mites live off human skin flakes, and that is what dust is.
As for you getting bitten and not your guy. That is like that with me and my guy. I am always the one who gets bitten by mosquitos, or bugs etc. he rarely gets munched on. It must be to do with our body chemistry and it attracts the little buggers.

18My parents had bed bugs at their sumer home and the bugs were only biting my dad. My mum wasn’t bothered by them at all. I don’t know what the bugs looked like so I can’t tell you by the picture but it sounds like you have them. My parents had to get the home sprayed. Your landlords have to cover the cost or you can call someone in charge like the rentalsman. Sorry!

19I didn’t look at the pictures, but just want to say: why do people say things when they have no idea of what they are taling about, and say it like it’s a fact? There definately are bed bugs, and they can easily be seen by the eye.
So, now I looked at the picture: that is a baby roach.
