I think I have bed bugs. I noticed bumps on my bum a few months ago and thought it was maybe adult body acne. I changed my diet and body wash and it seemed to clear up. About the same time I started sleeping in a different bed but I didn’t think that had anything to do with it. In September I began sleeping in my original bed again. In November I started noticing the bumps again. Now my boyfriend is complaining of bumps on his arms. They appear to be the same bumps. Bed bugs seem to make the most sense. I stayed in a hotel shortly before I noticed the first bump and assume that’s where I got them. (And for those that think you have to be dirty and nasty to get them….think again! If this is what I have I got them from a Resort Hotel while staying in a 00/night Presidential Suite!!!! No slum hotels for me)
How can I get rid of them? I have a Queen size mattress (no pillow top) and a feather topper. The feather topper says dry clean only but I can’t afford to do so. Pesticides and Pest Control Services are not an option as finances are extremely tight. We are currently living off one income and there is NO room for anything like that. I have to last 2 weeks….that covers gas, milk and bread. This HAS to be an at-home remedy. Please help! I’m so tired of itching!!!

2I just saw this on TV not more than 15 minutes ago.
Make sure your room is not too humid. Wash your sheets and bedding once a week in hot soapy water.
Seems like it should take more, but that’s all the TV man said to me…
Good luck!

4I was told that a simple test is to leave a heating pad on the bed, turn off the lights, wait 20 minutes, then turn on the lights to see if you can see the bed bugs. They are attracted to the heat source. When staying in a hotel, use a hair dryer and I do not even think you have to wait 20 minutes for them to come crawling out.
Getting rid of Bed bugs is a pain I hear. You have to was everything is hot water, and I mean everything! Most people dump their furniture and mattresses because they get into the padding and there is no way to get them out. If you leave ONE spot untouched, that colony can flourish and your home will be re-infested again.

5Wash all your bedding items with HOT HOT water, and use a steam cleaner on the mattress and floor (if is carpeted). When completed dried, puff BedBugPowder all over the mattress included all the creases.
Sprays and bombs works only for temporary. I have used them once, but bed bugs came back in a few days. But BedBugPowder worked very well on our bed, and we have not had any bites since I started using it. I think using BedBugPowder is the best way to get rid of bed bugs!
Its price is pretty reasonable, and it is no chemical contained, and 100% child and animal safe.
Good luck!!

6Bed bugs are about t6-9mm long so they are fairly easy to see in the bed. Try looking in the gaps around the head board etc.
Treatment- if in UK call your local councils environmental health department. they will carry out a treatment at a sensible price. Commercial companies will try to rip you off.
DIY- put bedding in freezer for 48 hours this will kill the bugs, or a tumble dryer set to hot for 1 hour. A tin of insecticide containing permertrin will help if sprayed in the mattress etc.

7buy 100 percent cotton sheets, pillow cases and quiltcovers and wash at 90 degrees. change bed stuff once a week. synthetic sheets make me feel itchy. this will work.also another weird technique involves putting a bowl of salt by your bed. just try it gives you a brilliant night’s sleep. sounds odd but it is amazing. it clears the air somehow. but you have to put salt in the bin daily. you could try hoovering more often.

8I worked in a hotel for a couple of months and when some of the rooms got bed bugs in them, we just couln’t rent them for a couple of months and we put all the mattresses on the wall and spread everything apart, apparently they don’t like to exposed. Of course, wash your sheets, but they always just put the beds up against the walls for a month or so and that cleared it up.
