i just noticed them a month ago. i live in a one bedroom apartment with my small pomeranian. They have infested the couch and bed, which are the main places i have seen them. I told my apartment manager and at first they said they would take care of the problem. Now they are saying if i want them out, i have to pay for it. I haven’t gotten any new furniture and honestly i dont know where they came from. they are driving me crazy because they are biting me and my dog. I can’t even bear to sit on the couch, but i can’t stop the dog from doing so. I put mattress covers on my bed and they seem to be helping in my room, but the living room is another story. I dont have the money for an exterminator, plus i only have 2 months on my lease. I have already found another place, and i know i have to take special precautions when moving.
I just don’t have the funds to pay for two places at the same time if i move. last night, i got so fed up wit them i went to my parents. i washed the dog thoroughly and dried him on high heat with a blow dryer. I washed and dried my clothes and immediately threw them and the dog in the car and ran for cover to my parents. I read articles on how not to take them with you, and they say you need to wash and dry your clothes and other items. Anything above 113F will kill them. I haven’t been able to sleep because i know they are just waiting for me. i average about 3 hours of sleep a night, and i am seriously abusing coffee. Anyways if you guys were in my situation , what would you seriously do? Give me a step by step procedure. I cant stand these things at all. they are driving me crazy, i need help
not to mention i cant even spend time with the dog because i know she has been sitting on the couch for hours accumulating them. she wants to sleep with me , but i am afraid she willl bring them in my bed again. she scratches at the door and i feel really bad. i can’t wash her everyday b4 bed..ya know!

1Ok I will address only one issue. Go out and buy those newer Giant zip lock bags, those really giant ones. Wash your laudry and sheets etc etc and start packing to move all that you dont need now in them and seal them up well. Put aside. Anything you can start packing scrutinize and put in bags, giant small whatever. Your couch and beds should be thrown away. Your furniture when you take it outside to move get a flashlight and some lysol and spray around and watch for movement. Pay attention to cracks, thats where they hide. The lysol is to make them move, it wont kill them. It might slow them down so you can get them. I acgtually I kid you not, bought gallon size extra large super giant and every single item I moved was inside a plastic bag. I felt safe and secure doing this. It should help you to as far as your move. Google bed bugs and read any message boards you can find for info or home remedies too. I wonder if they like the taste of calamine lotion or soemthing like that you could apply each night and wash off in the shower each morning? Tape shut all around electrical outlets, tape the carpet to the wall, using clear wide tape to seal that up near your bed and couch for now.
I had scorpions all kinds all sizes. I threw away all my furiture that wasnt glass or metal and totally sealed, I mean all of it. I bagged up my things well in advance. I put the filled bags in those giant plastic bins with no holes in the bottom, and put the lids on when full and got thick plastic tape and taped the sides up. I stacked each bin when full so that nothing could come in boxes to my new place.
I put things in bags, that I could not check well and left them sealed up for a few months undisturbed, and opened them outside to watch for anything scurrying. I moved no scorpions with me at all. I can sleep peacefully now. Bed bugs if you read up on them, live in places such as electric plug sockets, cracks where the carpet meets the wall, places like that besides other things like dressers, tables under beds.
Since the outlawing of using I think it was DDT no truly eradication poison is available. Packing up now as I suggested will help your move go easier. Take the dog for a flea dip on the way to the new place too.
I wonder if you slept with blinders on and left all the lights on in the place if some would not come out? I believe I read they are most active around 3 to 4am also. Someone may of visited you and they were in the cracks of their shoes, they could come from the neighbors too. Luggage at airports spread them, hotels too. I have not read anywhere that they make us ill, they are just gross.
Just look forward to your new place, and start the washing and bagging and binning up. Watch your shoes, when you leave the house and look for signs. Im sorry your going through this. someone I know did, and she was mortified, we think her vacations brought them home. I am going on vacation soon and am worried about traveling and how to safegaurd my stuff. I know I will bring the large ziplocks to put my stuff in but my luggage is too big, so Ill probably bring clear trash bags to put them in. I dont know what I will do about the plane though. They are spreading across the country pretty quickly I hope they develope soemthing quick. Good Luck!

3cedar shavings under your couch and if your couch cushions zip off put cedar in side. Put it under you mattress. Go to store and buy 20 mule team borax add it to your laundry 1/2 a cup a load, sprinkle it on your bed any fabric furniture vacuum it off after letting it sit for 45 minutes at least the longer the better then take your vacuum bag and throw it out immediately. get it out of your house and buy flea and tick shampoo for you dog dawn dish detergent works too.
