My boyfriend is allergic to all of these, and we have two dogs and a cat…and I really want to do as much as I can to ensure he suffers as little as possible. Any advice?
With dust, most people are allregic to the protein in the fecal matter of the mites themselves. You need to wash all pillows at least 1 once a week in hot water. Have your boyfriend buy some honey from a local health food store. Make sure it is from local bees in your area. This will greatly reduce the effect of local allergens. Buy an air purifier and make sure you vacuum with a hepa filter. You can also buy hepa filters for your vents. The are placed in front or on the inside of the vents in your home and can trap a lot of the allergens in the air before it circulates in the house (winter is the worst because of all the buildup in the ducts). Try and brush your pets regularly outside. Regular baths for them helps to keep the build up of skin and hair to a minimum. He might want to have the added support of a prescription as well. My mom is allergic to almost everything. With just a few minor changes there is a world of difference you can do, but most of get the honey it really works!
I was told i was allergic to my cat ….the best things you can do is keep your house dust and fur free as much as possible and if it gets unbearable tell him to take anti-histamines.
He’ll have to stay away from them as much as possible, and you’ll constantly clean your house/apartment and make sure there are no hairs lying around. I know because i’m allergic to animals, and I have a dog. This helps me a lot. We mostly keep him outside, so maybe put them out for longer if you’re able to.
Bathe the animals once a week, he’ll be fine. My husband and I have very bad allergies. We have two cats and a dog. We just make a habit of washing our hands after petting them.
I would recommend setting up hepa air filters in all the bedrooms and living room. This will help the air to be as clean as possible. Also, tile or wood flooring tends to be much better for people with allergies since it does not foster the production and life of dust mites. Keeping the house clean will of course be the best thing for him. Lastly, if his allergies continue to bother him, think about seeing your doctor to get him on some medication to lessen the severity of his symptoms.
These allergies are actually quite common, and the hardest to live with. All you can really do is to sweep, vacuum, and dust often. Keeping the dust and dirt down is about all you can really do. Vacuum or dust the window sills and frames, wash the curtains frequently, vacuum the furniture and get it cleaned at least once a year. If you have carpets, vacuum daily. If your carpets are just room-sized, roll up one side each week and sweep and mop under it. You’d be amazed at how much dirt sifts down through the carpets!
Depending on how bad the allergies are, you might consider getting rid of wall-to-wall carpeting and using area rugs that can be cleaned under, and removing any blinds from the windows. Blinds are dust collectors.
he can take allergy medicine but im allergic to cats and im around them every day after a week about his allergic reaction will start to go away because he is so used to it now but until then take benadryl allergy medicine or claritin thats what works the best i think! Hope I helped!
hoover and damp dust regularly, spray with antiallergen febreeze, do not have litter trays in the house.Really important keep animals away from any area he may be sleeping, as you breathe deeper when asleep so take in more allergens.
i have allergies like this and my only way was not to have animals, as i literally cannot breathe in a house with more than 1 cat in after a few hours but these can help, also antihistimenes can be useful if taken before a visit.
People with allergies have a range of treatment options available from over-the-counter products to prescription medicines.
You could also get an air purifier, which we have for cigarette smoke. They remove smoke, dust, pollen, mold spores, dust mites and pet dander from the air.
Good luck!
I have the same allergies as well. It is best to minimise exposure to the cats and dogs.
Ensure that you bathe your pets at least once a week. Do not allow them into your room or onto your bed or sofa. Refrain from having carpets in the house.
Have him start taking a teaspoon of LOCAL honey each day to help him develop immunities to all of these. Like all herbal remedies, it will take a while to become effective but you will also see that he gets less cold and flu symptoms as well. This really works without fail but you must take it each day. Stay away from medications that dry out the body as dehydration can cause long term organ damage and sinus infections.

7Someone that is allergic to cats, dogs can not be in the same home as the animals. His symptoms will worsen the more exposure he has.
